The Heathfield Converter Station Project is one part of the great Eastern Alberta Transmission Line (EATL) Project. The station converts 500kV AC to 50 kV DC and transports the load south to the sister converter station Newell in Brooks, Alberta. The converter station consisted of a fenced area approximately 500 by 500 metres. Western Pacific completed all electrical installations, including transformers, breakers, a converter valve hall, reactors, filters, a telecommunications tower, an emergency/backup generator, control buildings, and related support equipment and structures.
