VRCA RECOGNITION – CONGRATS!
Western Pacific Enterprises’ (WPE) projects won silver awards in three categories:
- •The Lougheed Town Centre Food Court Relocation project received a silver award in the up to $2M project value category
- •The Pacific Center Mall Main Switchgear & Retail Distribution Equipment Replacements project received a silver award in the $2-8M project value category
LOUGHEED TOWN CENTRE FOOD COURT RELOCATION:
The Lougheed Mall Food Court Project is a part of the overall redevelopment of Lougheed Town Centre. The new dining area, called The Eateries, has seating capacity for 600 patrons and is home to over 13 restaurants. WPE’s scope on this project includes the supply and installation of labour, materials, and equipment for the completion of all electrical systems related to the construction of the new food court.
PACIFIC CENTER MALL MAIN SWITCHGEAR & RETAIL DISTRIBUTION EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENTS:
The Pacific Center Distribution Upgrade Project is part of updates required for a recently renovated and expanded shopping mall in the heart of downtown Vancouver. At over 400,00 square feet, it is the largest mall in downtown Vancouver and hosts 2.8 million visitors annually. WPE’s scope on this project includes the replacement of two high voltage switchgear assemblies within the Pacific Centre Main Electrical Room, replacement of four HV cables from the distribution switchgear to the North Retail Vault and the South Retail Vault, and the replacement of electrical distribution equipment which serves the mall retail areas. This project was complex and challenging as the shopping center remained active and was open seven days a week for the duration of the project. There were over 100 site shutdowns throughout the life of the project. All site shutdowns had to occur after 10:00 PM and be completed before 7:00 AM for the facility to operate normally for business hours.
STANTON TERRITORIAL HOSPITAL:
The Stanton Territorial Hospital is a brand-new facility located in the city of Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories. At 320,000 square feet, the new Stanton Territorial Hospital is both the largest hospital in the Northwest Territories and the largest construction project in the territory’s history. Every in-patient room in the hospital is private, with a private bathroom and at least one window. The facility is adjacent to beautiful Frame lake and many of the rooms have views. Each floor of the hospital has a specific design and color scheme inspired by a Northern landscape. The landscapes include lakes of the territory, rivers, and forests, mountains of the NWTs, and the Arctic Region of the territory.
This project was complex and crewed by people from all over the country which required a high level of planning and organization to manage. Additionally, WPE’s team used Bluebeam software to help track and manage areas efficiently and in real-time. WPE’s scope on this project includes the supply and installation of labour, materials, and equipment for the completion of all electrical systems related to the construction of the Stanton Territorial Hospital.
